Today was Campbell’s first day of 1st Grade at Grace-St. Luke’s! His teacher is Mrs. Benitone, and she seems great. It looks to be a bit of a more normal school year this year. There are still COVID precautions in place, thankfully, but we actually got to walk him into the classroom. The last time we walked in Campbell’s classroom was in the begining of March of 2020 pre-COVID. It was so nice to be able to walk Campbell in.
He’s going to have a big adjustment – homework will start after Labor Day, and only one recess. And academics pretty much all day. It’s a big change, but I know he’ll be great! He keeps saying they’re going to ask him to do fractions for homework. :). Haha. No idea where that came from, but it cracks us up.
We also have to wear uniforms for the first time this year. It will be nice to have them and not to have to worry about what to wear to school each day. But it was a big pain trying to get all the right stuff. (The pants they are supposed to wear from Land’s End, don’t fit well, so we had to find a different brand that worked better).
The biggest disappointment is that Alex, Campbell’s best friend at school for the last three years isn’t in his class this year. :(. He’s pretty sad about that. Finally, we were so exhausted tonight that Campbell wet the bed. He’s only done this about 3 times ever and it’s been a really long time. I think he was just wiped out after a busy first day of 1st Grade. Poor guy was so upset in the night. On the up side, the mattress pad we bought to cover Campbell’s new mattress worked perfectly!
