Today, we got to go to an Easter egg hunt sponsored by Calvary Episcopal at the Metal Museum.  Campbell really got the hang of it quickly.  (It helped that we let him “practice” at home beforehand).  But he was really focused about getting his eggs!  And that was before he realized there was anything inside.  We thought he was going to get mad when he had to give the eggs back, but he was really great and dropped them in the bin himself.  🙂

Also, tonight Campbell was baptized at Calvary Episcopal in Memphis during the Easter Vigil service.  Pat Pat and Bing and Gigi and Papa Doc were all able to be there.  He was so cute and he really did pretty well considering how long he had to sit still.  So, it was a success!  Unfortunately, we didn’t get any pictures beforehand, and Campbell needed to go home and get to bed right after the baptism.

And, we found these other pictures from the beach on the camer (March 11).  I’m putting them here because I doubt anyone is going back to look that far to notice. 🙂

Campbell loves to go in the golf cart to Miss Cordelia’s.  🙂  Here, he fell into the bike rack and needed help getting out.  :).

He’s really talking up a storm now – it’s hard to even keep up with all of his new vocabulary.

And, he’s walking up the stairs on his own too!  He’s getting really good at it!  He’s so big!

Today some nice neighbors gave Campbell a car seat they weren’t using anymore.  It’s great to have a second one for Mason’s car!  We took the cover off to wash it, and Campbell decided it was a good chair for reading.  🙂

Today, we tried taking Campbell out to play golf for the first time since he was in a baby carrier.  It went surprisingly well!  He loved riding in the golf cart and trying to “putt.”  We played a full 9 holes and could have played more.  🙂

Well, mom and Campbell had fun after bath time tonight.

First, Campbell started saying “papoose.”  (We always say papoose when I dry Campbell off after his bath).

And, next, I started trying to get Campbell to say Ala-Bama and then Roll Tide.  Here’s what resulted – he did this spontaneously without me prompting him.  🙂  He’s already indoctrinated!

March 30, 2017

First the good news.  Campbell is probably going to be discharged from all of his therapy.  We thought he could at least continue until he is three, but apparently they re-evaluate at 2 if there are no developmental delays with prematurity.  Apparently this almost never happens, so we are excited that Campbell is doing so well – even if sad that he doesn’t get to work with Lisa and Anne Katherine anymore.

And, Marie’s son hurt his knee today, so mom got to come home early to play with Campbell.  We went to the zoo because it was a beautiful day, and Campbell loved it.  I let him run around a lot, but we used the stroller to go to between areas, and that seemed to work well.  Especially since it was really quiet on a weekday afternoon.

He loved wearing his sunglasses; fell and scraped his knee twice before we had even gotten out of the big cat exhibits, was totally disinterested in the crocodile with the open mouth, loved playing the bongos, and really loved going up and down the stairs by the gorillas.

Campbell had quite an experience today.  Check out this truck that parked in front of our house!  It’s bigger than a standard 18-wheeler, and I’ve never seen anything like it.  The owners are the people who own Gus’s Fried Chicken, and they came to a crawfish boil in our neighborhood, and they were so nice.  They even let Campbell climb in the cab and pull the horn, just like a trucker!

And, really, it’s even bigger than it looks!

Besides that, in the last week, Campbell has really been growing up.  He started walking up the stairs by himself.  He still needs to hold onto the wall or a railing, but he really is doing it on his own.  I didn’t know he could, and I turned around and he was halfway up the stairs to the third floor!

And, his vocabulary is just exploding.  He’s copying and imitating everything, so mom and dad are going to have to be extra careful about what we say from now on – and start spelling words.  New favorites are “oh dear,” “mimi” (for marie), “avery” (marie’s daughter), and “piece.”  He’s also saying “tee-tee” and “potty” and “flush,” though he’s not really figured out what all of that means.  And, the most favorite of all is “golf cart.”  🙂

Campbell loves weekend mornings at home when we change the sheets and play picaboo in his hamper.  🙂  He also loves to fall down and jump on his mattress when it is on the floor.

Campbell had his 2 year old visit with the pediatrician today.  Dr. Frizzell gave him a great report.  He was 33 inches tall and 25.2 pounds.  That’s about the 10th percentile (not corrected) for height (sorry dad) and about the 25-30% percentile for weight.  We’re a little late going, but better late than never.

He did have to get a shot, unfortunately, but otherwise was really great and loved spinning Dr. Frizzell’s stool.
