Campbell has started wanting to wear costumes to school again. Good thing he chose to be a rocket scientist for NASA today. As a special surprise (and we didn’t know when we woke up today), Campbell’s classmate William’s grandfather worked for NASA, and they had a special surprise today. Williams’s grandfather, Barry Musick was a guest speaker and spoke to the class about growing crystals (they’ve been growing crystals in their class at school) in space with no gravity. They learned that crystals grow bigger and more perfectly in space and are used for many things at home.

Work around the neighborhood with dad. 🙂 Campbell and dad fixed the gate to the marina. And, dad and Campbell made an arrangement of sticks for mom too!

Later, we went to Cedar Hill Farm in MS with Keller and Cannon for Easter. They had an awesome time hunting eggs, visiting the farm, going on a hay ride, meeting the Easter Bunny, and playing in the pirate ship.

Today, Campbell got very interested in the world’s largest wasp nests. We watched cool cool (read: creepy) videos, and then Campbell wanted to act it out himself.

More food truck today. :). He especially loved using our leftover pizza boxes and even

And, later, Campbell still loves to play Sherlock Gnomes! :). Mom had extra fun hiding all the clues. We went on a hunt to Julie and Tracy’s house and then another from there to Keller’s house. Campbell and dad walked/ran the whole way, so it was a good way to get some energy out! Not to mention some great pictures of dad.

We’ve had some exciting things going on at school lately. For starters, Campbell has learned all the sight words for SK that he’s supposed to know by the end of the year. He’s been zooming through his sight words the past few weeks. It’s really actually pretty amazing how well he’s doing with his reading also. I couldn’t have imagined how far we’d come with our reading this year. And, Mrs. Horton and Mrs. Sorrells are the best kindergarten teachers in the whole world.

Tonight, Campbell wanted to build a food truck outside in the driveway. Dad moved out his kitchen, and we created a menu and named the restaurant as Campbell wanted to. He is so creative and fun, and the “Air Queen” was all his idea.

We did some more swimming today before leaving to go back to Jackson.

When we got back to Gigi’s house, she’d been hard at work working on a cool army shirt for Campbell. One of mom’s friends from law school who used to live in Jackson sent us some cool patches for Campbell to use in some of his costumes and dress-up clothes.

Later, he wanted to play with Gigi’s St. Patrick’s Day decorations. 🙂

March 11, 2021

Today, we went for a walk in the French Quarter, to the WW2 Museum (Campbell loved it!), and to get snow balls. It was a super fun day.

Later, we went to the rooftop pool to swim. It was pretty cold (dad wasn’t so excited to be in there), but Campbell loved it. And, it didn’t take him very long to remember how to actually swim. The first couple of tries, he kept turning around and going back to Mason, but he eventually got the hang of it. We were really hoping to give him some practice. Campbell was so tired after the long day and all the swimming that he fell asleep on the pull-out sofa while mom and dad were eating dinner with all the lights on. Sweet boy.

Today, we drove to New Orleans. Campbell is so excited. Hotels are only at 25% capacity, and it feels like we have the hotel and the city almost to ourselves. We stayed at the Roosevelt, which is super nice and got a suite including breakfast for about the price as we would normally have paid for a regular room. I hope Campbell doesn’t think this is what all hotels look like… Also, he loves beignets and pralines already. 🙂

March 9, 2021

We tried telling Campbell that the pool was too cold to swim, but he didn’t really believe us… And, looks like we need a refresher on swimming…

March 8, 2021

Today, we drove to Jackson for spring break. We are planning to go down to New Orleans for a few days during Campbell’s spring break. Campbell thought it was hilarious to wear reading glasses. 🙂

March 7, 2021

Campbell and his “snow plow” from i-Lab at school last week.

Later, jobs around the neighborhood, which is extra exciting because it’s Campbell’s spring break!

March 6, 2021

Pat-Pat and Bing had a fun visit with Campbell today. He was so excited to show off his Harry Potter room. 🙂

Later, Campbell had a blast going to a new restaurant (Dory) with dad to get take-out. 🙂

March 5, 2021

Today, Campbell got to visit with Mr. Willis at school. He was so excited. We intended to set that up as a fun surprise for him for his birthday, but with all the snow it wasn’t possible.

But, when he got home today, he set up Campbell’s bookstore with books that came from Mr. Willis. :).

March 3, 2021

Well, we ordered some special Slytherin and Harry Potter cookies for Campbell’s birthday from someone in South Carolina. She shipped them on time, but with the winter storm, they just arrived. Fortunately, they were wrapped and sealed well and still taste fresh. Campbell was so excited to see them. :).

More after-shower shenanigans.
