Gigi helped us with Campbell’s room while she was here. First, she hung our new Hogwarts are, the house banners, and the Harry Potter glasses!

Later, Campbell enjoyed creating an obstacle course with for his truck. :).

Today, Gigi and Papa Doc came to visit. We didn’t have school today because the water pressure is too low at school with all the water main breaks. Gigi and Papa Doc came to visit to help with Campbell with school being out. And, they came with a birthday gift Campbell was very excited about. :). Especially nice of them to come since we’re still under a boil water notice…

Campbell Lowe, Harbor Town Weather Reporter.
Starting to melt.

Later, Campbell decided to be super silly in dad’s boxers after the bath. :). Possible wedding photos. Haha.

February 20, 2021

More fun in the snow today. It was great but starting to melt this afternoon. It’s not going to last much longer. But, the kids had fun sledding and playing in the snow anyway. Later, we got pizza from Aldo’s (Campbell’s request) since most restaurants were closed from the water situation yesterday).

February 19, 2021

Today is Campbell’s birthday! It isn’t exactly how we planned it to be (in the middle of a 50-year snow), but we’re embracing it and trying to make it as fun and memorable as possible! First,, we made coffee cake for Campbell and put six traffic cone birthday candles on for a special birthday breakfast. Later, we had virtual school, and the kids got to say happy birthday to Campbell, which was so fun!

Later, we got to open some birthday presents. Campbell was so excited. :). He loved that they were wrapped in Harry Potter paper!

Later, we got to fill the bathtubs on the way to Campbell’s birthday party. (Since we’ve had such a hard freeze, water mains are breaking all over the city). We ordered pizza to the park for a sledding party for Campbell and a few neighborhood friends. Restaurants shut down city-wide just after we placed the order, so we just got in under the wire! And, thank goodness Miss Cordelia’s had balloons and cupcake supplies to add to what we had left over from last year – birthday banner, cups, plates, spoons, candles. Campbell also requested sprinkle cupcakes. :). And, he told me I made the most amazing frosting. :).

Sledding fun – someone made a jump, and the kids had so much fun! :).

Later, mom and dad redid Campbell’s room in Harry Potter as a surprise birthday present. We converted his toddler bed into a full bed, got a new mattress and box spring, new Harry Potter sheets, bedding, artwork, pillows, and a lamp. We intended to do this while he was at school, but with the snow storm, we had to improvise. Thankfully, Lindsey invited Campbell to play with Keller and Campbell after his birthday party so we could fix up his room without him being home.

He peeked before we were ready (stinker!), but I think he didn’t realize it was all Harry Potter, so we still had a pretty fun surprise for him. The last gift he opened was a Harry Potter letter pillow with the letter telling Harry he was a wizard and invited to attend Hogwarts. Then, Campbell got to take it upstairs and see his room. He was over the moon excited about it. (I’m not sure who was more excited – mom for finding all the stuff and decorating – or Campbell with the finished product). Mom and dad did have some trouble with the bed, so we just put the box spring and mattress on the floor for the reveal and will figure it out later… :).

And, finally a last couple of presents before bed. :). The invisibility cloak was definitely the favorite gift – even more than the nerf guns. :). All-in-all, it was an amazing day! 🙂 Happy Birthday, Campbell! We love you!

Beautiful neighborhood snow pictures. The ruler says nine inches, but it’s compacted some since the first 5 on Monday. Think the total is more like 10.

Wolf River Harbor and the Pyramid. Everything is frozen!

Campbell Lowe’s weather report.

Finally, we were able to get the golf cart out once the snow was packed down a little on the streets. They are still treacherous, though!

Sunset by the river.

And, Campbell doesn’t know it, but this is his last night in his current, toddler bed. :). Bitter sweet, but we hope he is so excited for his birthday surprise tomorrow.

Another cool, unedited night picture.

February 17, 2021

Today was another snow day with virtual school. It’s snowing again! On Monday, we got about 5 inches. Today, we’ve gotten another 5. This is the most snow in Memphis in 50 years. We went for some virtual school in the morning and went out to play in the snow again this afternoon. After class, Campbell wanted to build the Lego tractor that Pat-Pat and Bing sent for Valentine’s Day.

It’s so cold that the Wolf River is completely frozen. Yesterday, the high was 18, and the low was 10 with winds between 10 – 15 mph. Today, it was a little warmer, but still pretty cold and snowy.

After sledding behind the houses across the street, we went to the Mississippi River and sledded there too.

Later, we got these very cool nighttime snow pictures. There was so much light out at 10:30 p.m., we couldn’t believe it. We didn’t use any added light or flash to get these.

February 16, 2021

Yesterday was a snow day. Today – and probably for the rest of the week – we will be doing virtual school, as it’s unlikely with the road conditions that school will be able to reopen this week. They even sent us home with remote learning supplies last Friday in anticipation of the big storm.

We played outside with Daisy and Dwyer Yarrow who were building a snow mountain and who later went sledding with us behind the houses across the street. Super steep and fun!

Later, Dad and Campbell wore their matching Harry Potter pajamas while we read more Harry Potter 2. As you can see, we are almost finished! Campbell can’t wait to watch the second movie.

February 15, 2021

Snow day! It’s going to continue to snow today, so we’ll see what it looks like at the end of the day. It’s brutally cold and with blizzard-like conditions outside. Campbell didn’t even want to go outside for much of the day. The high today is 15 with a low of 9. And, that’s not factoring in the wind or wind chill, which was significant. Sustained winds of up to 24 mph with gusts to 34. Even Campbell didn’t want to be outside in the cold!

Later, we went out sledding with friends. The sleds didn’t go nearly as far in 5 inches of snow as they did on the ice, but the kids had lots of fun anyway. Hard to believe there’s more weather on the way!

Later, snuggles with Dad and Campbell in their new matching Harry Potter PJs they got for Valentine’s Day. What a fun end to an awesome, cold, and fun day!

February 14, 2021

Today, the winter storm started. Mom spent yesterday and this morning cooking for a friend with cancer, and later in the afternoon we went to drop the food off before the weather got too bad.

First, though, Campbell wanted to do a wreck on the icy roads and play cowboy. :). And, while we were out Campbell got to have a fun milkshake for Valentine’s Day. And, we were almost the last people in Trader Joe’s before it closed for the weahter.

Later, Campbell got to open a few Valentine’s gifts. :). It’s hard to say whether he likes the Slytherin blanket or the books better! 🙂

February 13, 2021

Campbell and mom had fun building a Lego Police Mobile Command Unit. :).

Later, Campbell wanted to create his own TV with a remote control with channels that change. 🙂

Mr. Willis sent us a book about architecture, so Campbell wanted to work on a floorplan for a house. 🙂

Later, we decided to give Campbell an early Valentine’s Day present. There is going to be a snow week probably next week. We were going to give him the 2nd Harry Potter book for his birthday but decided to give it to him tonight so we can read it tomorrow and all week while we’re snowed in with the weather. Think he was a little excited? 🙂

February 11, 2021

Last night, there was an ice storm. And, we discovered that we’d lost a couple of trees in the back yard, one of which was down and leaning on our fence and partially blocking the driveway. Mason borrowed a pole saw from Dennis and cut them down (with a little help from me and from a hairdryer to melt the ice on the gate so we could get in the back yard).

Super fun day with no school and sledding on the ice – they go so far! Isn’t it helpful that mom’s so obsessed with weather that she sent dad to get a sled last week! 🙂

Campbell and dad were also warriors today before we got out in the ice!

February 10, 2021

Campbell asked Dad if they could go to the Peabody Hotel today. He loves to play in the telephone booths and to see the ducks and the duckmaster. 🙂

Later, Campbell helped dad with some light switches around the house using his real screwdriver to unscrew them. :). He wanted to do this because we have painters at our house painting his room! He doesn’t know it, but there is a surprise coming. 🙂

Also, you can see the bandaid over his eye. Apparently, he ran into the play structure at work and has a big bobo.

February 7, 2021

We had so much fun finishing the Lego police station from Pat-Pat and Bing.

Also, one of Campbell’s new favorite things to do is watch people build Lego sets on YouTube. Weird, yes, but whatever. :). Today, he wanted us to film him making a Lego set. :). The video is 12 minutes long, so dad is going to edit it to shorten it and add it later. But, it’s pretty cute.
