Campbell didn’t sleep quite as well, but we had a fun day a the pool (while he napped) and went out for another boat ride tonight.
And, he’s really starting to enjoy playing with (and eating) his toys. 🙂
Today Campbell felt like being really photogenic. :). I think it’s because for the last two nights, he’s gone 7 1/2 hours between feedings overnight! Last night, we fed him at 10:18 p.m., he went immediately down with no fussing or pacifier, and he didn’t wake up until 5:35 a.m. And, the night before, we fed him at 9:50, and he didn’t wake up until 5:25! Yay! And, mom and dad feel like new people. 🙂 . And, he is starting to find his thumb on his own in the middle of the night, so we are hoping that is helping!

Afternoon Update
This afternoon we went out on the boat and got a cute family picture – though it took a few tries 🙂 .
And found a new pacifier holder. 🙂
Tonight, Campbell put on his first life jacket and went on his first real boat ride (other than a ferry). He didn’t like the life jacket much, but he seemed to enjoy the boat ride as long as the wind wasn’t fully in his face. Fancy and Dexter got to come along, as well. Here’re a few cute pictures (although you’ll see that it isn’t easy to try to get two dogs, a baby, and a husband all smiling and looking the right direction at the same time!):
Also, Campbell is starting to be able to put his hands together. He’s getting more coordinated. Clearly he gets that from me. 🙂
Below, you can see Campbell showing off one of his new “tricks.” 🙂
We’ve been working on a few things with him. For weeks he’s been smiling back and sticking out his tongue if you stick yours out at him. Now we’re working on putting his thumb in his mouth (see above – making progress even though he doesn’t always hit the target) and waving. He’s making progress on both!
He was also being super-cute and smiley today, so we got a few fun pictures.
And, finally, today Campbell “graduated” from size 1 to size 2 diapers! He’s getting so big – we can’t believe it! I think he’s close to 12 pounds by now.
Campbell took his first real dip in the pool today. (Last time he was just sitting on a float). This time he got in a little infant inner tube, and he got to enjoy splashing around. He was kicking like crazy, but he seemed to like it – at least for a little while.
And, earlier in the day he was being super cute and animated and playing with his toys and smiling and laughing.
Today, Campbell went 8 hours between feedings overnight! We didn’t feed him until 6 am after the 10 pm feeding, though dad did have to give him the pacifier once or twice.
And, Campbell made his first trip to the golf course at Springcreek Ranch today. Campbell and I met dad for lunch after a round of golf. We even got to meet the golf pro, Jennifer Hudson, who gave Campbell his very first pair of golf shoes from the club as a baby gift. 🙂
And, after, Campbell got to see a little bit of the course. Here’s a cute pic of him with dad on his first practice range. 🙂
Today we don’t have any pictures, but Campbell did make his first trip up to the law school to meet everyone. He really behaved and loved seeing everyone at school!
Campbell still loves Alabama 🙂
And, for about the past week, we’ve been working on trying to get Campbell to sleep longer at night. He’d been only going about 4 1/2 hours most nights. So we’ve started a new routine with a bedtime and bath, and it’s been working great so far. We’ve been giving him a bath around 945 and feeding him around 10 and going directly to bed. He’s gone to sleep on his own every night after the bottle like clockwork, and he’s been waking up later and later. Sometimes we have to give him the pacifier a couple of times, but he’ll usually go back to sleep and sleep until at least 4 and sometimes as late as 5. It’s definitely progress, and everyone is feeling better with a little extra sleep – including Campbell!
Today was a Sip ‘n See in Campbell’s honor. Our plan was to have a traditional baby shower on March 28, but we changed the plan when Campbell arrived so early.
Tiffany, Sarah, Memrie, Meta, Gretchen, and May gave the most beautiful shower for mom and Campbell. You can see some pictures of the fabulous flowers and food here:
Unfortunately, I was negligent about getting pictures of Campbell at the shower itself, but here’s one of him with his cousin Leigh. He did cooperate and behave himself at the Sip ‘n See so everyone got to meet him. :).
