Today was parents’ day at swim lessons. Campbell did so well! We were really proud of him. He got some fun prizes to take home too.

And, I asked Ms. Debra about how to get him to replicate what he’d learned in our pool. She said to just let him play around and that eventually, he’d start swimming. I told her he wouldn’t take his floaties off. She told him that he didn’t need them anymore, so I told him they were gone.
We couldn’t swim right away after lessons because they shocked the pool with chlorine.
So, Campbell and Gigi did some yard work. 🙂

but once we were able to get in later in the afternoon, we were amazed! Campbell got it and didn’t even ask for his floaties. He swam around using a kickboard for a little while.
He fell off once, and was able to kick himself up to the surface (it was a nerve wracking 10 seconds for mom and dad!). But, I think it made him more confident that he could do it and not as afraid!
Then he switched to a pool noodle. Then he asked to swim to us and started swimming.
We captured the moment here:
Then, he turned into a little fish. You can see the difference here about 30-45 minutes later!
He kind of looks like a little Michael Phelps with the way his arms are pumping. We are so proud! Thankfully, Gigi and Papa Doc’s pool is small enough that Campbell can get anywhere in one breath, which has been really good for his confidence. Now, hopefully, we can reinforce over the next few days and get his confidence up. It’s going to be such a relief not to be terrified every time Campbell is anywhere near water! At least now we know he knows what to do if he falls in.
And, you definitely never know what he’s going to say. I wasn’t expecting him to say “breathing apparatus.”
We are so proud of Campbell!
