Campbell is really talking and copying everything – and developing his own little sense of humor.  I don’t have any golf pictures from today, but we took Campbell out to play golf.  The golf course has a 4-seater family golf cart that’s free for families to use after 4.  So we’ve been going out a few times to take Campbell to play.  He loves the four seater and does pretty well getting through 9 holes after work so long as we promise him chocolate ice cream afterwards.

Meanwhile he said a few funny things on the golf course today.

  1. Dad hit his shot on #6 into the water.  I pointed out to Campbell where dad’s ball splashed in the water.  I told him that dad would try to hit a better shot and avoid splashing in the water next time.  He said “redic” (short for ridiculous, his favorite word).  🙂  As if it would be ridiculous that you would want to stay out of the water.  It was super-cute.
  2. Campbell was eating his chocolate ice cream, and he tried to get dad to eat some.  I told Campbell that dad couldn’t eat chocolate, and he said “redic.”  🙂  He also said “redic” when mom told him she couldn’t eat (read: hates) peanut butter.

It’s really cute to see his little personality coming out.

And, he is trying to drive the golf cart.  (Apologies for all the stuff in our garage!).

Tonight was mom and dad’s anniversary, and Campbell got to celebrate with our usual trip to the big park.  He made a friend (who didn’t speak English), but thankfully Campbell got to practice his Spanish.  He said “adios” and “gracias.”  It was really cute.  He and the other little boy ran up and down the slide and tried to tandem slide.  It was super cute to see them playing together.

Later, Campbell and Dad had fun playing on the slide together too.

And, there’s a sweet and friendly cat who loves attention.

After the park, Campbell loved getting lotion on.  He’s super ticklish on his calves – has been since we brought him home.  We had lots of fun tickling him and making him smile after his bath.

Dad got some great pictures of Campbell after church today.  It was hard to narrow them there were so many good ones.  Hard to believe this outfit is from last Easter and still fits him (a 12-month size).

Later, after his nap, Campbell got to go to the super-awesome Jewish Community Center Pool.  This place had so many different pools with all kinds of waterslides and splash pads.  He had so much fun…after dad had to take him back outside to walk (yes, walk) over the speedbump we missed on the way in.  (Note:  don’t ever skip a speedbump with Campbell!).  🙂

So, Campbell got to go down his first ever water slide!  He loved it and did great!  I think he’s ready for real swimming lessons.

And, look who we found hiding in Campbell’s room when we got home.  🙂

Campbell loves to play in the back yard – especially now that he has a sand and water table to play with.  🙂

And, we got to go to the zoo this morning.  🙂  Super fun!  Campbell even got to feed the giraffes – he loved it!  (But he was concentrating so much, we couldn’t get him to smile).

He was most interested in seeing the crocodiles and in getting in the enclosure with the cheetahs!  🙂  He also loved seeing the sea lions.

June 22, 2017

Daddy and Campbell got to go to the Children’s Museum today.  Campbell loved shopping in the grocery store and playing in the kitchen.  He also got to sit in the police car and on the police motorcycle.  And, he played outside on the splash pad and loved it.  🙂

June 17, 2017

Today, Campbell got to go to Wal Mart.  He loved seeing the fire engine and the lawnmowers, blowers, and edgers at the store.  (We had to make a special trip to that department just for Campbell!).

It’s also amazing just how much Campbell is copying everything you say.  Super fun, but you have to be careful!  🙂

While we were gone, he learned to like hot dogs and eating bigger pieces of meat, as well as dark chocolate.  And, he continues to love being superman, being upside-down Campbell (up-down Cam-bell), saying his name (Cam-bell Mason), saying “Again” whenever he wants you to do or say something again.  He also learned what a piggy-back ride is today, and is most of the time knows his left from his right.  He also loves “Jesus Loves Me” and always wants you to sing it before a nap or bedtime.  And, he can ask for (at least) the following kitchen gadgets by name:  cutting board (cut board), cookie sheet (cook sheet), pot, pan, top, tongs, spoons (poon), muffin pan, measuring cup (measure cup), tea cup.  Pretty soon he’s going to be operating the sous vide machine all by himself.  🙂

We also brought him a stuffed Oryx from Namibia, and he has (we have no idea why) named it “Puma Cupcake.”  (I’ll get a picture to post soon).

He also likes to say “croco-dil-e” in response to “see you later,”…  🙂  And, he continues to like to snuggle buggle.

He’s also asking for favorite books by name.  And, continues to always want to go to the park and on the golf cart.  He’s also familiar with the name “growler bar,” which might be more of a commentary on mom and dad than anything else.  :).

And, he likes to say “okay” to everything and “yummy” when something sounds good.  He also asks for ice cream all the time – and dried banana and mango.

And, he also answers no all the time, but if you ask him, he can tell you if it’s a real no or a fake no.  And, he loves to say redik (for ridiculous).  (We started saying “that’s ridiculous” when he would say silly things or ask to do things like go on the golf cart.  So now, if you ask him, he will say “redik!.”  It’s really, really super cute.

He’s also completely obsessed with lawnmowers, blowers, and edgers.  He loves to ride around the neighborhood to look for them.  And, also the garbage and recycling trucks.  And, he loves tree trimming trucks (he’s seen some around here and saw two trees cut down at Gigi and Papa Doc’s house).  And, mom couldn’t remember where the little piggies all went, so they started going crazy places like the lawnmower store, or the tree-truck store, or the blower or edger store.  Now Campbell loves to ask for “piggy tree truck,” which makes no sense unless you know why he is saying it.

There are probably more things I’m forgetting now, but it’s hard to keep up!

June 16, 2017

Campbell got to help mommy cook dinner tonight.

And, he thought it was fun to cheer for Rickie Fowler during the US Open. (Let’s go Rickie Fowler!  Good putt!).  (Dad needs Rickie to win for a pool we are in).

June 14, 2017

Today, dad got another cute video of Campbell playing pic-a-boo in the hamper.  🙂

And, Campbell got to play with Mimi and Avery today too.  He hated the kinetic sand on his fingers, but he liked it once he started “cooking” with it using a spoon.  🙂

Yesterday, we got back from Namibia.  Campbell seemed pretty excited to see us and didn’t like it when we left the house to go run an errand right before he went down for a nap.  Otherwise, he’s doing great, and we are so happy to be home.

Allison, Aubrey, Patrick, and Stewart came over to visit and see Campbell, and we got a great picture of all four grandkids together.

Then, we got to go home to a house with no air conditioning.  Fun!  Fortunately, it was just a clogged pipe, and we were able to get it cleared and back up and running.  Thankfully Izabela (our housekeeper/pet sitter) stayed to figure out why it was leaking and to keep it from crashing through the ceiling.

Thankfully, the A/C guy and then the plumber came tonight, but not until almost 11.  We all slept downstairs because the house was still so hot when we went to bed.  Campbell wasn’t thrilled about sleeping in his pack and play downstairs, but we made it work.

Here’s a video of him in the house with no A/C – you can see how hot he is!

And, last night he was so funny – he has learned the gate code to Gigi’s neighborhood, and he has started trying to dial it on anything that looks like it might have numbers or buttons – including the hand-held shower nozzle in Gigi’s bathtub.  So, if you hear him saying 9909, you will know why.  Super funny.  🙂

June 8, 2017

Today, Campbell go to go visit Papa Doc at his office.  🙂

IMG_8308.JPG

And, Gigi tells us that Campbell is saying and doing all kinds of new and funny things like telling people they have “bed head” and being a baby bobblehead.  🙂

June 6, 2017

Today, Gigi and Papa Doc took Campbell to the children’s museum, which he loved.  🙂

And, he loves to play pic-a-boo.  He especially likes to point and tell you where to go – “pic-a-boo that way (pointing).”  🙂

And, he’s loved seeing all the construction activity out Gigi’s front door.  🙂

June 1, 2017

Today, mom and dad left for Namibia!  We are so sad to leave Campbell, but excited for the trip.

Campbell got to have a play date and a tea party with Charlotte and Emily who live down the street.  :).  I don’t think he’s missing us yet.  They also played corn toss, rode on the golf cart, and played with a car track.

Gigi and Papa Doc rented a golf cart for Campbell to use while they were babysitting.  You can’t tell from the picture how much he really loved it.  🙂

And, Gigi got a new FitBit recently, and Campbell started picking up a hair band, putting it on his wrist and calling it his “FitBit.”  🙂  He’s copying everything!

May 29, 2017

Campbell came out to visit at the croquet court during the tournament.  He’s learning to use the croquet mallet just like a putter.  🙂  He also asked mommy to juggle the (very heavy) croquet balls.  Ha!
