Well, today was a total bummer.  When Ernie & Pat went to visit at noon, the nurse changed Campbell’s diaper and found a little streak of blood in there.  They’ve had to stop his feedings, and they had to x-ray his stomach to see if there was any gas in there.  Apparently, the concern is for NEC (necrotizing enterocolitis), which can be dangerous for preemies.  But his x-rays were normal, he’s acting normal, and the doctor doesn’t think he has NEC.  But they will watch him and keep him on IV nutrition instead of milk for a little while to check him out and make sure he is okay before they restart his feedings.  He was just shy of 3 pounds when they last weighed him, and I’m betting we won’t see him gain as much or as fast as he has over the past week or so with all the milk he’d been taking.

You can’t tell from this picture that he’s having a bad day, though:

He was especially excited to meet Aunt Lizzy for the first time too!  🙂
